The Digital Innovation in Zakat Collection and Distribution: Opportunities and Challenges Inovasi Digital dalam Pengumpulan dan Distribusi Zakat: Peluang dan Tantangan

Abstract

This article discusses the development of digital innovation in zakat collection and distribution, focusing on the opportunities and challenges that arise in the technological era. Using a descriptive method of analysis and an inductive approach, this study traces and analyzes various sources of literature, both classical and contemporary, to build a comprehensive understanding of this topic. The research process involves collecting data from a variety of sources, including classic fiqh zakat books, recent research on fintech in Islamic finance, journal articles on zakat digitalization, and reports of zakat management institutions. An inductive approach was used to identify patterns and themes emerging from the data, which were then analyzed to generate insights into the impact of digital innovations on zakat practices. The results of the analysis show that digital innovations, such as zakat crowdfunding platforms, mobile applications, and blockchain technology, have opened up new opportunities in improving the efficiency of zakat collection, expanding outreach, and increasing distribution transparency. However, the research also identifies significant challenges, including digital divide, data security and the need for regulatory adjustments to accommodate new forms of zakat management. The research concludes that although digital innovation offers transformative potential in zakat management, a balanced approach between technology adoption and preservation of sharia principles is required. The article also emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in the implementation of digital solutions to ensure that the benefits of innovation can be felt by all levels of society.
